Club Location

Location

The club is situated in Wolstanton, immediately next to Porthill Park Cricket Club.  To access the club by car you must turn into Knutton road from Silverdale road.  Bollards on Knutton road prevent access from the east. On the map, the club and its green can be seen directly below Knutton Road.

Car Parking

Wolstanton Bowling & Snooker Club shares a large car park with Porthill Park Cricket Club.  There is usually lots of space, unless there is a major cricket match taking place.

Environment

The club presents a very attractive environment, with beautiful grounds and flowering borders.  The main lounge looks out over the green, and the setting feels more like that of a rural village than a suburb of a town.

The lounge and bar are excellent places to relax.  There is no juke box, music, etc. so conversation is easy.

The club house has recently been massively improved with the help of grants from the National Lottery and Staffordshire County Council. We now have disabled access and toilets, the central heating system has been completely overhauled, the roof completely repaired and insulated, and improvements are about to start on the Kitchen and green maintenance equipment shed.

The Bar

The Steward ensures that the bar is open from 7.30pm to 11.00pm Mondays and Thursdays, while volunteer staff usually run it between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.  A variety of beers, spirits and soft drinks are available.

There is a television available and members make good use of this when football matches are screened.

During the bowling season it is also possible to take drinks outside within the confines of the club grounds.  There are plenty of garden chairs surrounding the green, and the high hedges and walls ensure that it is usually possible to find a place out of the wind!

Catering Facilities

We also have a large kitchen area enabling us to provide basic catering facilities for special events, e.g.
